Freddie WONG

Graduated from the Conservatoire Libre Du Cinéma Français in Paris in 1978, WONG founded the Phoenix Cine Club in the early seventies, worked as Programmer for the Hong Kong International Film Festival from 1979 to 1983 before entering the Hong Kong film industry as assistant director, production coordinator and producer.

He is one of the most renowned film critics in Hong Kong and he has been involved with Hong Kong independent filmmakers since early seventies. From 1993 to 1995, he headed the Film Department of the Hong Kong Arts Centre and organized the Hong Kong Independent Short Film and Video Awards amongst other repertoire film programs and film retrospectives.

He has served as Jury member for many international film festivals, including Fribourg, Pusan, Singapore, Manila, Hong Kong and Asian Pacific Film Festivals (held in Bangkok, Hanoi and Taipei). He is a member of FIPRESCI and NETPAC.

From 1995 to 1997, he was the Business Development General Manager of Edko Films Limited and also Director of the Broadway Cinematheque. From 1998 to 2000, he was elected President of the Hong Kong Film Critics Society. In early 1999, he was the Executive Producer of Love Will Tear Us Apart, which was entered into official competition in Cannes. He was employed as Curator of the Hong Kong International Film Festival from 2000 to 2006. He is currently preparing some new film projects with filmmakers from Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Teresa KWONG

Born in Hong Kong, KWONG is an arts promoter, curator and producer for film and media arts. She has involved in curating and organizing various major film projects which promotes independent filmmakers in Asia since 1997. Currently the Director of the Hong Kong Independent Short Film and Video Awards (ifva) and a member of the board of directors of Videotage (a media art collective in Hong Kong), she is committed to nurture and promote the next generation of Asian talents in creative media. Miss Kwong has been invited to give presentations about Asian shorts in a number of occasions, including the Oberhausen Short Film Festival, “Made in Hong Kong” Film Season in Manchester and Women Film Festival in Seoul. She has curated programs about Asian independent cinema for oversea festivals/ institutions in Manchester (UK), Poland, Shanghai (China), Tokyo (Japan) and Macau, etc.

Since 2001, she has become a member of NETPAC (Network for Promoters of Asian Cinema) and has been invited to be the juror member of various international film festivals, including the Pusan International Film Festival, Rotterdam International Film Festival and Women Film Festival in Seoul.

She has started producing short films with a number of emerging Asian filmmakers since 2006.
